Stuart's goal was a bit special, chipping the ball over the last defender and then volleying spectacularly past the stunned keeper. (or so he said - probably dribbled in) The tournament enjoyed excellent weather and some great football was played in an excellent spirit. Frank Hirth needed penalties to beat Dynamo Sidcup in the quarter finals and Stuart felt that his team got better as the tournament went on and their experience came through. Stuart was keen to praise goalkeeper Michael Decent for excellent penalty saves in both the quarter and the semi-finals. Stuart said "This was an excellent tournament with some great goals and some great football, I would like to think we will be back next year" Stuart also said "We would like to dedicate our victory to Steve "The Salmon" Cameron who scored the winner in last years final and sadly couldn't make the trip this year". Horn Park Harriers beaten finalists captian Joel Isaacs said that "the team had coped well with the rigours (Alcohol, longer opening hours) of European Football and felt that they were unlucky to lose but it didn't stop them enjoying a fantastic weekend" Player of the Tournament went to Rob Dyer from Dynamo Sidcup. |
